In V.S. mode, the player races on a course of the choosing against computer-controlled competitions or at local multiplayer. The style can be played either individually or in teams, which separates racers to a blue group and a red staff; in multiplayer, players may command which team they are placed on. Battle mode features two game modes, Balloon Battle and Shine Runners, both which also allow the player to play either individually or in teams.

In Balloon Battle, the player has to pop the balloons of these players by attacking themor they could steal balloons by fostering into other karts.
