Okay, so here is the thing: nobody is going to be noticed phoning Resident Evil 6 a masterpiece. In reality, most people would struggle to even call it a good match, and there’s a whole lot of solid reasoning behind this. It is a sport entirely confused about exactly what it needs to become, trying so hard to become an action shooter whilst at the same time attempting to become survival horror, and failing to do both very well. 11 — Resident Evil Revelations

For those who wanted Resident Evil to return to its scary roots after RE5, this match is right for you. Well, a lot of it anyhow. What regions of the game happen on the Queen Zenobia, a doomed cruise liner which makes for a great stand-in for a royal mansion, are too dark, mysterious, and utterly creepy as fans could expect after an entrance spent at the sunlight. For Revelations, Capcom returned into a world of opulence contrasted with huge decay, and once more it works. Wandering the gently rocking ship’s labyrinthine hallways, creaking doors opening to musty staterooms, communications decks, and just a casino, even feels like coming home , or haunted house. With that in mind, RE0 is still executed very well: that the atmosphere is fantastic, the images are phenomenal, both of the protagonists are likable, and the plot hits all of the b-movie camp bases you’d expect from a Resident Evil game.

RE0 also fills in a lot of the gaps in the mythology, and as its title might indicate it clarifies a good deal of in which this whole thing has started. However, for players who may look past these flaws, Resident Evil 3 is still a very tight small survival horror stone. The game moves at an absolute clip, packs at some remarkable production values, and generates an overall more persuasive version of the narrative than the initial game.

Too bad so much focus was put on Resident Evil Resistance, the free (and disgusting ) multiplayer tie-in. 6 — Resident Evil

Resident Evil is credited with bringing the survival horror genre to the masses and ushering in a golden era of genuinely terrifying video games. Initially conceived as a remake of Capcom’s earlier horror-themed sport Sweet Home, Shinji Mikami, shot gameplay design cues in Alone in the Dark and established a formula which has proven successful time and time again.

The eponymous first game in the series might appear dated but the very simple premise and duplicitous mystery box mansion hold up exceptionally well, twenty years later. For people who love the series’ mystery components, the first is unparalleled. The opening sequence sets up a campy tone with unintentionally hilarious voice acting, but once your knee deep at the mansion, things become unbearably tense.
